At the premiere, it was admirable how Barbora de Nunes-Cambraia, both singing and acting, managed the role of a dignified queen, loving mother and wife who fears for the life of her dear husband, how she describes the situation where she decays to sacrifice her own life for his healing, which her departure into the realm of shadows and what sadness and tenderness at the same time flowed from her farewell to her children and husband had the depth of persuasiveness. She was also a great dramatic expression when she called on the goddess Vesta to protect her children. It is good that after a remarkable performance in the Pilsen production of Cherubini's Medea, when even in the smaller role of confidant Neris drew attention to herself with her musical feeling and colorful voice, she was now given the opportunity in such an interpretively demanding role.
