The Silesian Theatre´s new production of Carmen has lived up to the audience´s expectations

Barbora Polášková´s creation of the title role was excellent by all accounts. The total assurance of her singing and stage presence alike attests to the presence of truly distinctive talents among the young generation of opera singers. The Opava Carmen shatters the myths about "broadly built" divas, being tall and slim, and yet possessed of a beautiful, richly coloured mezzo-soprano.
